Johnson & Johnson has announced they are pulling a device used during
hysterctomies, known as a power morcellator, from the global market as
the device has been tied with spreading and accelerating the growth of
undected cancer in women.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Aministration (FDA) issued a
warning to doctors about the device. Johnson & Johnson then suspended
use of the device in April. The FDA warned the medical community that
the device may spread a form of cancer beyond the uterus and could result
in lowering women’s chances of survival.
